Far and Away


I have my last US show tomorrow night at Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ, then on Saturday I fly out to Scotland where I will be until January 10, 2007. I don't have any shows set up for this tour, just a few meetings with various groups and individuals.

The purpose of this trip is mostly pleasure with lots of quiet work mixed in. I have loads of writing I want to do, I wish to see about getting some of Marvin's posts put together on a CD or even a podcast, and I need to prepare for a very busy 2007.

Therefore, I may not blog so much. In fact, I am considering limiting my on-line time significantly (shudder) so that I can get other things done and I can relax. I think I might post a photo a day though, but no promises.

If I don't visit your blog or respond to an e-mail during this time, please don't take it personally. It is time for me to regroup, refresh and renew.

Just kidding, I think it´s very wise to take some time off to do what you feel like. I just wish had the time :) Maybe my timw will come when I graduate in january since I haven´t found neither job nor apartment :)

If Marvin gets a podcast let me know so I can help pimp him (the old meaning of pimp not the new one which would imply hauling him into a shop for body work atop a hydraulic lift and the installation of a flat screen TV in the back seat) ... I think we all know the feeling of limiting online time during busier periods in life ... Have fun in Scotland :-)

LIA has until Friday, September 23 to respond. If LIA statements in Eartha Jane Melzer's article are indicative to how the "change" program might respond, we may see LIA change right before our eyes from a clinical mental health compound into a house of praise and worship. Puzzled

Last night I performed Transfigurations-Transgressing Gender in the Bible at Imago Dei Metropolitan Community Church in Glen Mills, PA (about 15 miles outside of Philly). I had a diverse audience of about 45 people -- college students, Quakers, straight, bi, trans and lesbian, young and old. I took my time with the piece maintaining a gentle meditative pace. For the ending when I reveal the identity of the narrator, I had instructed the light tech to dim the lights. Then as the closing music swelled, I asked her to raise the lights to their brigthest intensity. With the music playing, I exited. Always (up until last night) at this point the audience applauds, I wait 5 seconds then come out to take a bow. Last night I exited and then nothing. No one clapped.
