On the Morning Show this Week

I just heard confirmation that I will be a guest on The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet this Thursday. I believe it airs on the Fox Network here in the US. The show starts at 9:00 am EST, not sure how that works out for the rest of the country. And for you Swedes and Brits, you since the cultural domination has been completed, you will have to wait and see if it gets up on YouTube or something.

I believe Alan Chambers will also be on the show, so yes, the topic will be the ex-gay movement and not my newest vegan pesto recipe. (Although I will try to slip it in). It is a live show, so always room for pesto.

So I guess this means that the "September Collapse" wasn't hitting bottom yet with the media whore addiction.

OK. Understood.

Yours in recovery!

You have to promote Tartex while there too. I have seen so many youtube-clip of you in national TV and not ONCE (not ONCE!!!!) have you promoted tartex.
Even if you have got yourself new love - I think you should give Tartex some sort of.. recognition..

So how did the media tart get on then? Famous yet? ;)
Daniel, I will smear Tartex on my collar as a homage but I don't want to create an international crisis with the sudden increased demand for Tartex. Our military is already overstretched.

Great story: I walk into my fraternity's kitchen and the Mike and Juliet show is on-- and there's about 15 people crammed in the room watching.
Everyone had some not-very-nice words for the "ex-gay"-- and some hilarious but sad words about his wife, who was clutching his hand in a vice-grip the whole time.
Then you were on! And I told everyone, hey, that guy was at Colgate a while back.

Your oil-change comment was very well received.

Good luck, Peterson.

Folks in Portland were certainly glad to see you, last time you showed here.

Well I wish you could be with us in October (Gay History Month). Artwork from my animation-in-progress will be showing at the Q Center, and I'll be giving a dramatic monologue based upon "Song of Myself" during the reception, Oct 5. The following First Day (er, that's Sunday to the "world's people"), I'll deliver an in-depth lecture of the nexus between gay history and Quaker history.

PETERSON TOSCANO IS THE MOST AMAZING PERSON ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You keep on keepin on and on and on and on and on and on.

changin lives. making change.

living proof

that

despite the fact that we kinda live in a culture, country, world which readily promotes a sense of cynicism and lethargy...

we must, yes...we must understand that our holding fast to the passions which push our eyes open at sunrise, and sing our sleepy heads to sleep is never futile. these things are never in vain.

people like peterson amaze us all because they seem to truly recognize a very intrinsic truth...that this unpackageable, unyielding, beautiful, wickedly humbling, bold, and intangible thing called love is how to walk...how to speak....how to act...how to sing, how to smile, how to dream, how to share, how to duel, and dance...how to burst halo-crested head first into the pits of the lost...into the homes of the found...into the rage of the lions roar, and into the arms of the once and forever hug....

someone like peterson comes into your life.

and they change it forever.

because they let a bit of their shine spill over onto your path...to see a lil bit better, at all the right times.

thank u

u

for

all

that

you

do.

Great job Peterson... kind of made me sad in some ways. But my real question is... how much work had the guy in the middle had done on his face - he barely had any facial expression!! :)

Hey Peterson!

Good show! I think you made some really, really good points. And, heck, ya looked great doing it! It is interesting the comments that come from my straight friends after watching the segment. Alan's message, even tailored to fit the audience, was not very well received. Your dad's JiffyLube comment had me rolling!

Thanks Alex for the link!

Mitch, I've been talking to some friends about a return to Portland sometime in the next 6 months.

Tonya, no problems, that's why we have YouTube.

Auntie Doris, what can I say?

Morgan Fox--You crazy! and I love you for that.

Ananymous--Ha, how cool is that.

Jonathan, glad you like my dad's humor. One day I should do a whole show just about him. he is a riot.

My Gay Husband--A Spouse Speaks Out

The other day I received the following e-mail from Susanne, a woman who found out her some years ago that her husband has same-sex attractions. I felt so moved by her words that I asked her permission to share them with you on the blog. I (recently) saw your Doin Time... and I was the one who asked about your wife during the discussion period that followed. I just read your thoughts on What About the Spouse ....and I can say, most women who find out their husbands are gay feel ALL of those things you wondered about....some in more degrees than others... When my husband was dragged out of the closet because of his irreverent, immoral, and amoral behavior that our, then, 14 and 16 year old sons had to find on our home computer, I went into the closet. I didn't know what to pray for.... Do I pray that this will go away? Do I pray that he could go back to the way things were in our family before we knew about him,? Do I pray that I could go back to the way things were? After all ,...

The False Image of LIA

John Smid and me-Graduation 1998 (above) & John Smid today (left) By now many have heard that Tennessee's Department of Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities determined that the "ex-gay" program, Love in Action, is operating two “unlicensed mental health supportive living facilities”. LIA has until Friday, September 23 to respond. If LIA statements in Eartha Jane Melzer's article are indicative to how the "change" program might respond, we may see LIA change right before our eyes from a clinical mental health compound into a house of praise and worship. Gerard Wellman, business administrator for Love in Action, and a former Love in Action client, said Sept. 13 that the organization has been in contact with the state but would not comment further. “As a church, we operate under a different set of rules,” Wellman said. Curious, and what rules might these be? What is even more curious is that according to LIA's site only one staff member ...

Puzzled

Last night I performed Transfigurations-Transgressing Gender in the Bible at Imago Dei Metropolitan Community Church in Glen Mills, PA (about 15 miles outside of Philly). I had a diverse audience of about 45 people -- college students, Quakers, straight, bi, trans and lesbian, young and old. I took my time with the piece maintaining a gentle meditative pace. For the ending when I reveal the identity of the narrator, I had instructed the light tech to dim the lights. Then as the closing music swelled, I asked her to raise the lights to their brigthest intensity. With the music playing, I exited. Always (up until last night) at this point the audience applauds, I wait 5 seconds then come out to take a bow. Last night I exited and then nothing. No one clapped. They sat quietly as the music played. I stood back stage puzzled, baffled. Now what do I do? Wait? Go out anyway? And I wondered for a moment, Did they hate it? Did I confuse them? Offend them? Bore them into a coma? After what ...
