Homo No Mo now for Sale!

I got news yesterday that the DVD of Doin' Time in the Homo No Mo Halfway House (edited by Morgan Jon Fox with designs by Christine Bakke--click on images for larger view) is now fully produced and ready for sale on-line. I have yet to see the final product, but the president of the company that did all the printing and copying sent me an e-mail to say how impressed he was with the final product and what a dream it was to work with Christine and Morgan.

Quaker Books Friends General Conference will be distributing the DVD which you can get at their site by clicking here.
After 15 years of submitting to reparative therapy, ex-gay support groups and even three exorcisms, Peterson Toscano enrolled in the ex-gay residential program, Love in Action. He graduated successfully from the program nearly two years later, but in January of 1999 decided he just needed to accept himself as a gay man. He weaves together humor, program jargon and outrageous eye witness accounts to form a piece that is hilarious, poignant and inspirational. Peterson co-founded BeyondExGay.com and is a Quaker. He is appearing at the 2008 FGC Gathering. He retired the show in 2008 and this recording captures that final performance.
If you order one, let me know how long it takes for you to get it. For Quakers it will also be available at various yearly meetings and at FGC. I will also have some copies when I go to Memphis later this month. I am so excited, I just want to fly home from England to see my copy!

Do they come autographed? What are the special features of the DVD? Do they include any Marvin tidbits? Is there any behind the scenes (including me) stuff? Is it surround sound? How about letter-box? If so, then I'll get one.

:)

Congrats by the way.

Almost forgot: what's the residuals for you? For me? For Auntie Doris? For Alex? For anyone else?

Congrats Peterson! I just purchased a copy. =)
joe g, I am with Auntie Doris tonight and hear you have been talking smack about me yet again. Your obsession with me would disturb me if I wasn't so flattered.

In answer to your questions. Yes, Marvin is well represented in the extras. I have some nude footage of you I took when I was trapped in your home for those sultry days a few years ago. Yes, it has surround sound and that shaking earthquake effect they had when you were a teen in the late 70s. So yeah, buy one and I will e-mail you my autograph.

Peterson, great news on the dvd's. The bad news is that I had my DVD case stolen from me on the plane over to russia. Which means I may have lost my original copy of homo no mo. I'll be getting a new one anyways but that original way very dear to me. I'm trying to recover the dvd case but who knows. love from russia

Looks pretty :)

My discovery from last night is that red wine, white wine and Bailey's make me feel very tired the next day. I would love to blame Peterson for leading me astray, but on this particular occassion it was all my own doing!!

Fabulous to see you again P. Big love .
craig, no worries. It is time for a replacement of that one. You deserve an upgrade!

Auntie Doris, my lips are sealed about your behavior last night. I won't even mention about your wild flirtation with a lezzzzbian.

*cackle* you behave ;) Apparently I flirt with everyone!! Considering the company I think I behaved as well as could be expected :)

Hey Peterson -- I stayed up WAY too late last night enjoying the DVD & all those extras. Fun, fun, fun! Congrats on a project well done.
Buddy & Carrie, that is GREAT news! Thanks for bringing me into your home. :-)

I just watched it. First of all, Amazon.com could learn a lesson from the Quakers on order fulfillment. The DVD showed up two days after ordering -who would have thought?

I've never seen it live but was thoroughly impressed. You have the kind of skill with different characters and voices that could get you a spot on the SNL cast should you ever stop doing what you are doing now. That's Eddie Murphy style talent.

All in all, you did a great job and so did your production team. I hope you are able to "fuk-us" on putting together a whole lot more material and look forward to seeing you live someday.

My Gay Husband--A Spouse Speaks Out

The other day I received the following e-mail from Susanne, a woman who found out her some years ago that her husband has same-sex attractions. I felt so moved by her words that I asked her permission to share them with you on the blog. I (recently) saw your Doin Time... and I was the one who asked about your wife during the discussion period that followed. I just read your thoughts on What About the Spouse ....and I can say, most women who find out their husbands are gay feel ALL of those things you wondered about....some in more degrees than others... When my husband was dragged out of the closet because of his irreverent, immoral, and amoral behavior that our, then, 14 and 16 year old sons had to find on our home computer, I went into the closet. I didn't know what to pray for.... Do I pray that this will go away? Do I pray that he could go back to the way things were in our family before we knew about him,? Do I pray that I could go back to the way things were? After all ,...

The False Image of LIA

John Smid and me-Graduation 1998 (above) & John Smid today (left) By now many have heard that Tennessee's Department of Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities determined that the "ex-gay" program, Love in Action, is operating two “unlicensed mental health supportive living facilities”. LIA has until Friday, September 23 to respond. If LIA statements in Eartha Jane Melzer's article are indicative to how the "change" program might respond, we may see LIA change right before our eyes from a clinical mental health compound into a house of praise and worship. Gerard Wellman, business administrator for Love in Action, and a former Love in Action client, said Sept. 13 that the organization has been in contact with the state but would not comment further. “As a church, we operate under a different set of rules,” Wellman said. Curious, and what rules might these be? What is even more curious is that according to LIA's site only one staff member ...

Puzzled

Last night I performed Transfigurations-Transgressing Gender in the Bible at Imago Dei Metropolitan Community Church in Glen Mills, PA (about 15 miles outside of Philly). I had a diverse audience of about 45 people -- college students, Quakers, straight, bi, trans and lesbian, young and old. I took my time with the piece maintaining a gentle meditative pace. For the ending when I reveal the identity of the narrator, I had instructed the light tech to dim the lights. Then as the closing music swelled, I asked her to raise the lights to their brigthest intensity. With the music playing, I exited. Always (up until last night) at this point the audience applauds, I wait 5 seconds then come out to take a bow. Last night I exited and then nothing. No one clapped. They sat quietly as the music played. I stood back stage puzzled, baffled. Now what do I do? Wait? Go out anyway? And I wondered for a moment, Did they hate it? Did I confuse them? Offend them? Bore them into a coma? After what ...
