(snark) Isn't all masturbation same-sex, by necessity? Unless you're a true hermaphrodite, there's only going to be one gender involved in any case. (/snark)

Ya hit the nail on the head regarding gossip. Unfortunately, it's a lot easier to yell about gay people because they only compromise a small percentage of the community. But a much higher percentage of people gossip, including a lot of people who call themselves Christian. That's why it's called "sharing out of concern." Trust me, I know...I grew up in a church that mastered the art of that one!

Tsk, that was very mean of your mentor. Next time you have a men's gathering and you bring your amazing cheese puffs, challenge him to resist temptation and stick to the celery and carrot sticks. That'll teach him :)

Joe G - You're wrong! Munching on donuts is just as serious a sin as homosexual sex. The Lord does not like either as they are both clearly against His infallible word.

Marvin, sorry to comment twice to one post, but I just remembered something! A friend of mine wrote a wonderful Biblical exegesis on over-eating. Maybe it might help your mentor to realise just how disgusting donut munching is in the eyes of God.

Peterson, thank you very much for having Marvin on. It's really kind of you to host him, and I'm learning a lot. Please excuse how this comes across, but I've not had much exposure to 'his sort' before and it's opening my eyes. I'm not a churchgoer, and I thought that 'his lot' were all unapproachable and inhuman, obsessed with blood or something, and Marvin's ordinary enough. Thanks for speaking truth to the power of my prejudices.

Puzzled

Last night I performed Transfigurations-Transgressing Gender in the Bible at Imago Dei Metropolitan Community Church in Glen Mills, PA (about 15 miles outside of Philly). I had a diverse audience of about 45 people -- college students, Quakers, straight, bi, trans and lesbian, young and old. I took my time with the piece maintaining a gentle meditative pace. For the ending when I reveal the identity of the narrator, I had instructed the light tech to dim the lights. Then as the closing music swelled, I asked her to raise the lights to their brigthest intensity. With the music playing, I exited. Always (up until last night) at this point the audience applauds, I wait 5 seconds then come out to take a bow. Last night I exited and then nothing. No one clapped.
