More Florida Photos

Here are some more photos, mostly taken by Pearl, who was the Kinship photographer. The singers Jason & deMarco came to the retreat to do a concert right before my show. They also attended a workshop I led on the Ex-Gay Movement and ex-gay experiences many of us share. Marcos, the retreat organizer, did an amazing job of taking care of everyone and setting a friendly tone. Other pictures include the inside of a church in St. Augustine and some large birds that prowled around outside my room.

Ok, could Jason and deMarco be any hotter?

Seriously.....
I only see inner beauty; I am not distracted by absolutely gorgeous Italian men with eyes that melt me into the floorboards of the mini van on the way to the airport.

I call dibs on DeMarco's ass. All other body parts among the duo are still up for grabs.
Daniel, whoa cowboy, I believe all parts of deMarco are fully accounted for between God and Jason, and I don't think you want to get all up in the middle of that threesome.

(but it does raise a question--if Christ is the bridegroom and the church is the bride, is Jesus polyamorous???)

Is Jesus polyamorous? Isn't that what the gospel teaches? - and it's certainly what Jesus appeared to practise - even if he didn't (as far we know) jump into bed with everyone. So how can I fall in deeply in love with such a guy when "all" I can see is inner beauty....?

Puzzled

Last night I performed Transfigurations-Transgressing Gender in the Bible at Imago Dei Metropolitan Community Church in Glen Mills, PA (about 15 miles outside of Philly). I had a diverse audience of about 45 people -- college students, Quakers, straight, bi, trans and lesbian, young and old. I took my time with the piece maintaining a gentle meditative pace. For the ending when I reveal the identity of the narrator, I had instructed the light tech to dim the lights. Then as the closing music swelled, I asked her to raise the lights to their brigthest intensity. With the music playing, I exited. Always (up until last night) at this point the audience applauds, I wait 5 seconds then come out to take a bow. Last night I exited and then nothing. No one clapped. They sat quietly as the music played. I stood back stage puzzled, baffled. Now what do I do? Wait? Go out anyway? And I wondered for a moment, Did they hate it? Did I confuse them? Offend them? Bore them into a coma? After what ...

The False Image of LIA

John Smid and me-Graduation 1998 (above) & John Smid today (left) By now many have heard that Tennessee's Department of Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities determined that the "ex-gay" program, Love in Action, is operating two “unlicensed mental health supportive living facilities”. LIA has until Friday, September 23 to respond. If LIA statements in Eartha Jane Melzer's article are indicative to how the "change" program might respond, we may see LIA change right before our eyes from a clinical mental health compound into a house of praise and worship. Gerard Wellman, business administrator for Love in Action, and a former Love in Action client, said Sept. 13 that the organization has been in contact with the state but would not comment further. “As a church, we operate under a different set of rules,” Wellman said. Curious, and what rules might these be? What is even more curious is that according to LIA's site only one staff member ...

Marvin on the Airwaves

Since coming back out of the closet (ex-ex-gay) in April, Marvin Bloom, a devout Jew for Jesus, has been making the rounds at various podcasts. His gay-friendly rants have been heard on Spanking Bee Arthur , The Flatus Show and more than once on Joe G's Bored Beyond Belief . Currently you can hear Marvin on Episode 81 of Mila and Jayna's Trans-ponder . In fact, you will also get to hear me too since in his new segment, Moments with Marvin, he interviews me. In other news, I have a boyfriend, and he is not Marvin.
